Brady Takes Own Energy Saving Advice
Reduces Energy Consumption by Nearly 60 Tons of Coal
MORRISVILLE, N.C. (October 4, 2010) — Brady (www.bradyservices.com), a company that provides energy systems and comprehensive building solutions for commercial and industrial facilities across North Carolina, is taking additional steps to “go green” while saving a lot of green. Brady is replacing the metal-halide, high-bay lighting in its Morrisville warehouse with energy-efficient fluorescents.
According to the EPA, the reduction in energy consumption will have an effective positive environmental impact equal to reducing:
-
coal consumption by 59.9 tons
-
emission of CO2 by 18.5 tons
-
sulfur dioxide by 144.9 kilograms and
-
NOx by 62.4 kilograms
As an alternative way to look at it, the EPA says that Brady’s switch from halide to fluorescents is equal to saving 3.4 acres of trees.
“As an energy solutions provider, we spend a lot of time helping our clients evaluate their operations and identify ways to reduce utility consumption in an environmentally-friendly fashion,” says Randy Katz, general manager. “It only makes sense for us to look at our own operations regularly and make the same changes we recommend to our clients.”
The retrofit will cost $8,275 but will generate an estimated savings of $2,126 per year. With the $2,000 utility rebate, the improvements will pay for themselves is less than two years.
Stones River, a strategic partner of Brady will perform the retrofit.
