Badgley Mischka Home Expands Furniture and Accents Offering
Second High Point Market for Fashion Design Duo
NEW YORK – Fashion designers to the stars Mark Badgley and James Mischka are expanding the fast-growing Badgley Mischka Home program with new furnishings collections inspired by the glamour of vintage Hollywood, coastal California cool, and their own red carpet apparel designs.
Following the April High Point Market, Badgley Mischka Home began shipping product to retail and interior design customers from its debut collection. To continue the brand’s momentum into the fall, five new collections will be presented at the October High Point Market in InterHall, space IH-102.
The Badgley Mischka Home line now consists of more than 200 SKUs, including dining, living and bedroom furniture, as well as accent and occasional items, upholstered seating and decorative accessories. The collection spans a variety of style categories, in which hand-gilded and leafed metal elements feature prominently, along with luxury fabrics and fresh wood finishes.
Astaire Collection:
A modern interpretation of 1920s’ American design and an homage to Hollywood’s Golden era, the Astaire Collection includes a glamorous sofa and chair. Streamlined and sophisticated, both feature a gracefully arched, hand-lacquered mink Birchwood frame. The sofa, covered in luxurious velvet, includes three matching accent pillows, and the chair sports detailed button tufting, tapered legs and a herringbone-patterned fabric. Rounding out the additions is the Astaire Mirror, a bold, contemporary design with a gleaming, hand-gilded finish.
Capistrano Collection:
Inspired by the warm, inviting feeling of Southern California at the turn of the 20th century, the new Capistrano Credenza features hand-painted rustic wood with a dramatic inset design in a unique, Spanish-influenced geometric pattern. The inset is created with the use of ecru, oyster grey and onyx black wood finishes, topped with a hand-applied glass coating.
Casablanca Collection:
Among the standout items in this new collection are the hand-gilded Casablanca Poster Bed, featuring a romantic, gold-leafed metal design. Distinguished by crisp lines and a linear silhouette, the tightly upholstered linen headboard is framed with a shaped metal arch. Designed to accompany this bed or stand alone, the elegant Casablanca Dresser features a series of individually placed, reclaimed beveled wood panels that are hand-painted in a rich chocolate truffle finish. The panels give the sleek piece a rustic feel, while a hand-gilded gold metal base adds a touch of glamour. The new Accent Table makes a stylish statement with its one-of-a-kind double bullnose top and tapered legs in a hand-gilded finish. The Casablanca Desk is an architecturally inspired design that combines a lacquered, wood panel top with a sweeping base panel in a contrasting finish.
Crawford Collection:
The Crawford Desk boasts a stunning, hand-gilded, antique champagne herringbone carved pattern on wood topped with tempered glass. A scalloped, hand-gilded metal frame adds detail and dimension. The Crawford Nightstand puts a chic twist on tradition by updating a classic Regency design for 21st century lifestyles. In scalloped, antique blush wood, the nightstand features three lacquered wood drawers, hand-gilded antique silver metal pulls and a mirrored top.
Doheny Collection:
The Doheny Sofa, a sophisticated contemporary model, combines lustrous gray linen upholstery with chunky wood legs and a rustic, back-panel design in a hand-lacquered, salt-and-pepper finish. The Doheny Accent chair is a sleek, modern lounge chair that bridges the gap between smaller, mid-century modern designs and today’s larger scale, more comfortable seating. The chair sports a contrasting but complementary fabric on the outside panels, along with an inset ebony lacquered exposed wood frame in an octagonal design. It also features tight arms, loose seat cushions and self-welt details. Also new are a glass-topped round accent table with Mikado-style metal base, wood-like edge and hand-gilded hammered surface; a silver-and-gray credenza with an elegant white floral design on four hand-embellished glass panels that are raised to cast a shadow against the custom, gilded, touch-latch cabinet doors; and a Mikado-style room screen with a hand-crafted metal frame and discrete safety locks that support a variety of formations.
“We know that timeless and classic silhouettes hold a lot of appeal for our target audience,” says Mark Badgley. “But we are interested in comfort more than formality. We want our customers to live in their spaces. It has to feel effortless.”
“The details count,” adds James Mischka. “To simple, elegant shapes we then add amazing finishes, fabrics and other details to make each piece a star. Every piece we’ve created for Badgley Mischka Home really is an extension of our aesthetic and what we love.”
Hailed by Vogue as one of the “Top 10 American Designers” and as the darlings of the Hollywood set, the design duo of Badgley and Mischka has made their mark over the past three decades with glamorous, stylish and wearable evening wear and accessories. Their refined, dynamic style caters to customers interested to express their individuality.
In addition to highlighting the new collections in their showroom during the October High Point Market, Badgley and Mischka will participate in prominent industry events. On Sunday, Oct. 15, from 7:30 to 9 a.m., the designers are the guest speakers at the biannual Educational Breakfast, sponsored by the Women in the Home Furnishings Industry (WithIt). The ticketed event will take place in the IHFC’s Green Wing 11th floor ballroom. Later that day, the designers will be the featured guests for the International Market Center’s Inside the Designers’ Studio event, scheduled for 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., in the Suites at Market Square Seminar Room (SAMS T-1014).
