Kenneth Cobonpue’s long anticipated debut at High Point Fall Market 2017
New York, NY (August 2, 2017) – Famed for his unrivaled facility with organic shapes and materials, Kenneth Cobonpue––the premiere Filipino design talent and 2014 Maison & Objet Designer of the Year––is slated to make his High Point Market debut this fall at the Suites At Market Square: G-7035, Ground Salon.
With numerous international accolades to his name, Cobonpue has positioned himself as an international symbol of the artistry and craftsmanship for, which the Philippine archipelago is globally known.
His use of natural materials, and ecologically sensitive production methods have earned him a devoted global following.
Representing the latest from Cobonpue’s eponymous label, the showing from October 14 to 18, will include a number of reintroduced iconic classics, alongside new items launched to critical acclaim during April’s Salone del Mobile.
Among them: the Lasso, an invitation to nestle below a winging stork; the Miro, a sleek yet playful side table; the Kala vase series hand crafted and inspired by cranes, perched on painted steel legs; the Twiggy, an organically striking mirror with a border of fine rattan reeds beaming from the center like the rays of sun and the Peacock chair with its sinuous rattan “plumage” about which Cobonpue said, “The Peacock is a new interpretation of a beloved and classic chair. While respecting and retaining the majestic elements of such an iconic form, I tried to inject a fresh and modern twist. Unlike the
traditional monochromatic wicker version, the Peacock displays the iridescent greens and blues that mirror the plumage of its namesake. By blending the best of traditional elements with something modern results in a timeless reinvention that will never go out of style.”
True to his trademark, Cobonpue’s designs transcend aesthetic margins, melding traditional techniques with contemporary forms, resulting in a signature style that is uniquely Cobonpue.
