Currey & Company is More Than Just Lighting

HIGH POINT, NC April 22, 2017 – For almost thirty years, Currey & Company has had a reputation for creating distinctive lighting. In the early days, the company manufactured occasional furniture to coordinate with lighting designs and finishes. Today, furniture is taking a major spot in the product line-up. Resources and design talent have been developed over the past few years resulting in this April’s High Point Market debut of more than sixty new furniture pieces.

The Karlson Collection designed by Currey’s Senior Designer, Aimee Kurzner, consists of four pieces – a folding screen, credenza, side table, and a drinks table. All four designs make a bold statement with hand-painted vellum. Velvety yet tough, vellum’s allure adds glamour, softness, and enduring luxury. The use of vellum dates back to the earliest books and manuscripts and was a favorite material of French designer, Jean-Michel Frank. The side table and drinks table offer hidden storage with a removable top. The Karslon folding screen creates architectural interest and defines an interior space. The credenza is made of oak solids and veneer, soft close hinges, eight adjustable shelves, adjustable glides, a center foot with leveler, and cord management.

The three-piece Nicolene Collection is highlighted with a lacquered linen finish in medium gray. It consists of an étagère, three-drawer chest, and a lingerie chest. All are constructed of solid mahogany. The lingerie chest would be a dream to own. With maximum storage, the chest has four velvet-lined drawers, under-mounted wood glides, one removable jewelry-tray, a removable drawer organizer, flip lid with a beveled mirror, and perfectly appointed leather and antique brass tassel drawer pulls. Elegance and function form the distinctive qualities of this collection.
