Thayer Coggin Reissues a Milo Baughman Art Deco Classic

HIGH POINT, N.C. April 20, 2017 – Thayer Coggin is bringing back its iconic Streamliner, an Art Deco inspired lounge chair, designed by mid-century modern pioneer Milo Baughman. Originally conceived in the 1980s, the metal and upholstered lounge with matching ottoman showcases Mr. Baughman’s affinity for Streamline Moderne with its bold aerodynamic forms and glamorous sense of modern motion.

“The Streamliner is a modern classic that really exemplifies an era of greatness in Milo Baughman’s expansive output,” said Phil Miller, Vice President of Thayer Coggin. “The chair makes a statement of glamour and grace. It is a masterful modern design that exhibits sophisticated movement and timeless appeal.”

The Streamliner is available in numerous fabric and leather options with either polished stainless steel or satin brass metal finishes.

Thayer Coggin furniture is bench-made, built by master craftspeople in its High Point, North Carolina workshops. “Our furniture is handmade by American master craftspeople right here in our High Point facilities. It’s custom built to each customer’s individual tastes,” said Mr. Miller.

In addition to the Streamliner, Thayer Coggin will introduce ‘Mia,’ a fashion forward chair collection designed by Ransom Culler, and Mr. Baughman’s ‘Anna Conda,’ a versatile, serpentine modular grouping at the Spring 2017 High Point Furniture Market.

The Thayer Coggin showrooms are located adjacent to its workshops at 230 South Road, High Point, North Carolina. Free shuttle service is available.

For more than 60 years, Thayer Coggin (1922-2003) and Milo Baughman (1923-2003) had a collaborative relationship producing iconic chairs, sofas, sectionals, recliners and tables that came to define the mid-century, modern American aesthetic. Both men are members of the American Furniture Hall of Fame.
