Kay Chemical Company Breaks Ground on $11 Million Greensboro Expansion
GREENSBORO, NC – Jun 25, 2015 – Kay Chemical Company, a Triad-based company for more than 80 years, today celebrated the official groundbreaking of its $11 million, 37,000-square-foot building expansion at the company’s headquarters in Greensboro, N.C. The two-story expansion will accommodate Kay’s growing quick service restaurant (QSR) and food retail businesses, which provide cleaning, sanitizing and food safety solutions to industry customers. The addition also will provide updated research, development and engineering space, and include a state-of-the-art training center.
This expansion will add 45 new positions over the next three years.

In attendance at the groundbreaking event were North Carolina Commerce Secretary John Skavarla, City of Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan and several Greensboro city council members. Speakers during the event included Bobby Mendez, Ecolab executive vice president and president, Global Services and Specialty; Bob Sherwood, senior vice president and general manager, Global QSR; Commerce Secretary Skvarla and Mayor Vaughan.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
